Week 4 JR

5th – 8th May

Hello girls and boys. I hope you had a nice Bank Holiday. Thank you to everyone who has sent us photos and emails. It is lovely to hear from you.

Seesaw

We are going to try a new way of communicating with you because we won’t see you for a while yet. Ms. Griffin and I will post up work here on the school website for you to do, and you can send us a sample of the work you have done on an app called Seesaw during or at the end of each week. We will then be able to send you a message back or correct your work. Lots of schools are using Seesaw now, and it is so easy to use. You can send photos of your work, record your voice, type a note, draw or even send a video. We can explore all the fun ways over the next few weeks. You just need to download the app to get started. Choose the Seesaw CLASS or Seesaw LEARNING JOURNAL version. Ms. Griffin is sending everyone an email with your own log in codes.

Communion Class

We are now at the start of May, and we were looking forward to celebrating 1st and 2nd class receiving their First Holy Communion this month. Bishop Denis sends information and words of encouragement to you in this video https://www.facebook.com/KANDLEi/videos/284722092537437/

A message to Parents

Parents, I know you are all in different situations and for some, what I set here may be enough or too much. Please don’t feel under pressure to complete everything. You and your family’s well-being are of utmost importance. If you need advice on home schooling/the work set, please email me. If you would like more targets e.g. reading lists/phonics, please email me. If your child attends learning support or has SNA access, Mr. Duffy and Julie can be contacted through our email too. Our dedicated home learning email address is nurneyhomelearning@gmail.com. We are here to support you.

Your 3 Targets this Week

English Reading – Fluency Reading Practice

Choose one of the readers you took home from school, or a different book you like to read. Practice reading it with a parent or older brother or sister. Log in to Seesaw and follow the instructions on the Fluency Reading Practice activity. Julie and I can’t wait to hear you reading!

Maths

Go on a 2D Shape Hunt in your house or garden. Look for squares, circles, triangles, rectangles, (plus semi-circles and ovals for 1st and 2nd). Take one photo of each shape and send it to me on Seesaw. You can have a go of labelling the photo on Seesaw if you can.

Play Shape Patterns. You can play on a phone, tablet, laptop or computer by clicking into the website https://www.topmarks.co.uk/ordering-and-sequencing/shape-patterns. You have all played this at school. Infants try starting at Level 1, 1st and 2nd Level 2 and work your way up if you’re getting them all right.

Music

Múinteoir Ray will be teaching a music lesson on RTÉ Home School Hub on Friday 8th May between 11 and 12. You can watch it later on the RTÉ player if you miss it.
